What is the MAJIC Mark?

The MAJIC Mark is applied to CBD products sold in Japan that have been certified to meet the practical, transparent and state-of-the-art labeling requirements of MAJIC. The MAJIC Mark has been developed to provide consistent labeling, transparency, assurance and trust to consumers who purchase MAJIC member’s products.

MAJIC Marks are issued for each product from MAJIC member companies in good standing that complies with the MAJIC Mark labeling requirements for cannabinoid products in Japan. MAJIC Marks are issued and renewed annually for each product.

Products containing the MAJIC Mark provide assurance to consumers that it is:

a) Sold in Japan by a MAJIC member company that is ethical and adheres to the policies and procedures of MAJIC.

b) Compliant with MAJIC mark labeling requirements which have been designed to provide transparency and consistency about the type of product and the cannabinoids contained in a product.

What are the advantages for a consumer to purchase CBD products with a MAJIC Mark?

The MAJIC Mark provides assurance to consumers that the company behind the product is committed to promoting an ethical cannabis industry in Japan according to the requirements for MAJIC membership.

The MAJIC Mark also provides trust and assurance to consumers that the product is compliant with the state-of-the-art MAJIC labeling requirements regarding:

  • How to legally and transparently describe cannabinoids contained in a CBD product
  • How to describe the type of CBD used in a product (isolate, broad-spectrum, blend) and whether the cannabinoids are hemp-derived, non-hemp derived, or synthetic.
  • The country where the hemp was grown,
  • The final country where the CBD product was manufactured
  • Total number of milligrams of CBD contained in a product
  • Link to specific product page containing all information required by MAJIC

What are the advantages for MAJIC Members to obtain MAJIC Mark?

The MAJIC Mark indicates:

What is the application process for a new MAJIC Mark?

  • MAJIC member must be in good standing.
  • Available only to “Japanese Company” category Members
  • Members submit evidence through and application documents to confirm compliance with and pay fee. Fee is non refundable whether MAJIC mark is granted or not. After MAJIC verifies the compliance of the label and web page, usage of the MAJIC mark will be granted. The MAJIC Mark is valid for one year.
  • MAJIC will list Member products on MAJIC website as compliant and in good standing at this url https://majic.jp/en/approved-products/
  • Members commit to adhere to updated requirements as they are decided by MAJIC or dictated by the Japanese government.

What is the process for the annual renewal of MAJIC Mark?

  • MAJIC member must be in good standing.
  • Members must confirm that each product meets the MAJIC Mark labeling requirements, fill out the prescribed renewal application form, and submit it to MAJIC together with the necessary evidence and other documents, along with the renewal fee. Fee is non refundable whether MAJIC mark renewal is granted or not. If compliant, usage of the MAJIC Mark is renewed for one year.
  • MAJIC office may check Member’s products to assure compliance at anytime.

  • Members commit to adhere to updated requirements as they are decided by MAJIC or dictated by the Japanese government.

What is the standard cost for a MAJIC Mark?

  • MAJIC Mark is valid for one year and can be renewed annually.
  • Five new product MAJIC marks (or renewal fees) are included with annual MAJIC membership at no additional charge.
  • The current rate for a new application for MAJIC Mark is ¥20,000 per item. This is the entire payment due for a one year usage fee of the MAJIC Mark.
  • The annual renewal cost for a MAJIC Mark is ¥10,000. This is the entire payment due for an additional one year usage fee.

What happens if a Member ceases to be compliant with MAJIC Mark requirements?

  • If a MAJIC member is found to be non-compliant during the year, MAJIC Mark may be revoked. Member will no longer be allowed to use the MAJIC Mark and the product listing will be removed from MAJIC.jp
  • Member will also be required to remove MAJIC Mark from their product labeling and website.
  • You are required to submit the MAJIC mark use discontinuance notification.

2022 – 2023 MAJIC Mark Special Campaign

For all MAJIC members who join before the end of 2023, Members in good standing can apply and receive up to thirty MAJIC Marks for their compliant products at no charge for one year. MAJIC marks will be valid for one year from receipt and must be renewed each year at standard costs.
